Welcome to Kuman Thong Buddhist Articles Online Store!

Established since 1994, Kuman Thong offers genuine rare antique and more recent Thai amulets and statues.

Amulets are similar to votive tablets in material, size and function, and were originally consecrated objects place in stupas. The idea of collecting amulets become popular in Thailand during the reign of King Mongkut (1851-68). Today amulets are favourite icons worn around the neck as objects of protection from misfortune and testify to the harmonious cohabitation of animistic and Buddhist beliefs in Thailand. Besides the Buddha, images of kings or gifted monks are also made. An amulet blessed by a reowned monk, especially a forest dweller, is particularly auspicious as some are believed to have the power to manipulate spirits.
